Today Secretary Pompeo met with the President of Mexico Enrique Pena Nieto at the Mexican presidential palace, Los Pinos, in Mexico City, Mexico. Secretary Pompeo reaffirmed the United States’ continued commitment to working with Mexico to enhance our shared security by disrupting transnational criminal organizations. The two leaders discussed the need to reach a modernized and rebalanced North American Free Trade Agreement and to continue close bilateral cooperation on counternarcotics and irregular migration. The Secretary also commended President Pena Nieto for his leadership in ensuring an orderly transition period before the December 1 inauguration of the president-elect.
