Geneva, January 23, 2019, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia commended the Yemeni Government's efforts to protect and promote human rights and its continued willingness to work with the international community to strengthen forms of cooperation with multilateral mechanisms for the promotion of human rights.
During a session of the review of the situation in Yemen held today by the Human Rights Council, the kingdom's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Wasel praised the Yemeni government's cooperation with all international and regional efforts to find a peaceful political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
He called on the international community to intensify its support and assistance for the Government of Yemen in order to enable it to meet the challenges and obstacles it faces in implementing its human rights policies, as well as in education and health care.
Al-Wasil called for ensuring the safety of children in particular by taking steps to protect them from the Al-Houthi's coupist militia, which continues to use them as soldiers and human shields.
