UG cadres netted; arms, ammos recovered

Imphal, April 12 2025:
Security forces arrested five active cadres belonging to different proscribed UG organisations and seized a large quantity of arms, ammunition, combat gear and incriminating materials during multiple operations conducted in different parts of the state on Friday.
According to a statement of police control room, an active cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro), identified as Angom Surjit Singh alias Jojo alias Chenglei (34) of Phayeng Sabal Leikai, Imphal West, was arrested from the same locality under Lamsang police station.
In a separate operation, an active member of KCP (Noyon), identified as Huidrom Sunder Singh alias Sanathoi (39) of Sekta Awang Leikai, Imphal East, was arrested from Checkon crossing near Traffic Island under Porompat PS.

He was reportedly involved in transporting arms and ammunition and carrying out extortion activities in the Mantripukhri area.
Security personnel seized two mobile phones and a wallet from his possession.
Another active KYKL cadre, Moirangthem Suranjoy Meitei alias Thousinba (31) of Sagolmang Awang Leikai, Imphal East, was arrested from the eastern side of Lamlong Bazar under Porompat PS.
One mobile phone was recovered from him.
Police also arrested an active member of KCP (PWG), Mangsidam Wanglen Singh alias Thouna (22) from Lei Ingkhol Maning Leikai under Lamphel PS.
He was reportedly involved in extortion activities by serving monetary demand letters to shops around Paomei Colony.
Nine demand letters of KCP (PWG) were seized during the operation.
Another KCP (PWG) member, Md Ashadon alias Talip alias Laingam (22) of Urup Awang Leikai, was also arrested from the same locality under Irilbung PS, Imphal East.
Meanwhile, a massive haul of arms and combat materials was recovered from different locations.
From Phayeng Sabal Leikai under Lamsang PS, authorities recovered several combat uniforms and equipment including military belts, bags, gloves, walkie-talkie sets, combat wear, a knife, and firing pins.
Security forces recovered one carbine with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, 18 HE grenades, and one para bomb from Hei bonglok area along the IVR to Khongnangpokpi village under Sekmai PS.
In a separate operation in general area BP-87 near Yangoupokpi under Tengnoupal PS, two INSAS and one AK magazines, 70 live and 12 fired rounds of INSAS and AK, six lathode rounds, electric detonators, a TNT slab, camouflage clothing and other materials were recovered.
Security forces also recovered several rifles, flare gun ammunition, an IED weighing around 890 grams, various live and empty cartridges, a Boafeng walkie-talkie, bulletproof jackets and headgear from the adjoining areas of Saiton Khunnou and Saiton Haiyaikon under Phougakchao Ikhai PS in Bishnupur district.
