Sioux City city council to reconsider Human Rights Commission budget cut, appoint interim City Manager at Monday’s meeting
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - As we look at the week ahead, we look to the upcoming agenda for the Sioux City city council’s April 7th meeting.
One item on the agenda is the reconsideration of the Human Rights Commission’s budget for Fiscal Year 2026.
At the council’s February 26th Capital Improvement Plan and Operating Budget meeting, a motion was made to reduce that budget by $140,000, the motion passed by a 3-2 vote.
Matthew O’Kane made a motion at the March 31st meeting to reconsider the budget, which passed unanimously. That discussion will take place at Monday’s meeting.
The council will also vote to approve the appointment of Mike Collett as the city’s interim City Manager.
Following the retirement of Bob Padmore earlier this year, Collett, the current Assistant City Manager, is expected to fill in that role until an applicant is chosen for the position.
Collett would cover his duties as the Assistant City Manager while performing his duties as the interim City Manager. The city council hopes to name a new City Manager by the summer.
The city council meeting will be held Monday, April 7th at the city council chambers in downtown Sioux City at 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
KTIV will have updates from those agenda items, and more from the meeting, on KTIV News 4.
