Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — Saturday morning a large group of local citizens united for a peaceful protest in front of the Clay County Courthouse.
Local organizer Amanda Johnson spoke with Northwest Iowa Now – she said this effort is part of a nationwide movement to protect human rights – saying “what unites us is stronger that what divides us.” Johnson says the response from the public has been positive:
Johnson also said people from Spencer were going to participate in similar protests in Sioux City:
In addition to the courthouse, protesters were also walking the sidewalks up and down Grand Avenue in downtown Spencer.
