UN’s Francesca Albanese Faces Zionist Pressure Ahead of Mandate Renewal

Human rights expert targeted by pro-Israel groups over outspoken stance on Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank

Watan-An unprecedented incitement campaign is intensifying, led by Zionist lobbying groups against Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, as her term comes to an end in a few days.

Pro-occupation organizations such as UN Watch and B’Tsalem are calling for her three-year mandate not to be renewed, in retaliation for her strong positions condemning Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank.

Albanese, known for her blunt tone and consistent criticism of displacement policies and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, has become the target of a fierce incitement campaign, including death threats. According to human rights reports, she has received direct threats from pro-occupation individuals and organizations, including threats of using wireless communication devices to target her—an attempt to intimidate and silence her.

These groups accuse her of using her UN position as a platform to “spread antisemitism and promote Hamas,” even though Albanese has consistently used her reports and statements to expose the ongoing crimes and violations committed by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians, particularly during the recent war on Gaza.

Albanese Under Fire: UN Rapporteur Faces Zionist Attacks Amid Global Support

In public statements, Albanese emphasized that Israel uses the pretext of war against Hamas to implement an expansionist settler agenda aimed at seizing Palestinian land and forcibly displacing its people. These strong positions provoked the ire of the Zionist entity and its Western lobbying circles, which quickly launched attacks against her and questioned her integrity.

Despite the pressure, Albanese has received widespread popular and human rights support across Arab and international platforms. Her name has topped trending lists in several countries, amid calls by activists and rights organizations to support her against the vicious campaign targeting her, and to protect independent UN figures from political and media targeting.

Will the voice of truth withstand the Zionist machinery of repression? And will the Human Rights Council renew its trust in Francesca Albanese, or will it succumb to political blackmail?
