CONSTITUTIONAL Offices Commission (COC) chairperson and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says all standard operating procedures were followed prior to the suspension of Fiji Corrections Service (FSC) commissioner Dr Jalesi Nakarawa.
He said this in response to claims by Dr Nakarawa that due process was not followed.
“As far as the Constitutional Offices Commission is concerned, we have dealt with the complaints that came to us according to the standard operating procedures,” Mr Rabuka told the media yesterday.
“We received complaints from citizens. We put those complaints to the one complained against and gave him time to respond.
“When the responses came back, we committed ourselves to a meeting, and we considered everything, and we decided that the best way to go is to commit it to a tribunal investigation.”
He said the tribunal would come back with recommendations.
Mr Rabuka also responded to claims that FCS deputy commissioner Auta Moceisuva had been bypassed by Sevuloni Naucukidi, the acting commissioner.
The PM said both individuals were called before the COC and they both agreed on who should take up the post.
