AS the Easter break approaches, many of us will be looking for fun and exciting things to do with our families.
Spring is here, and the sun is out, so it's a perfect time to go and enjoy what Cumbria has to offer.
The Lake District is full of amazing and scenic areas like Derwentwater in Keswick and Scafell Pike, near Wasdale.
Along with the Lake District there are also some fantastic attractions to visit.
We've compiled a list of some of the top things that you can do this Easter break.
So, why not head outdoors and experience what Cumbria and the Lake District have to offer?
Carlisle Castle
This historic landmark looks over the city of Carlisle.
The place is rich in heritage and is one of the most besieged castles in England.
Mary Queen of Scots was held as a prisoner at the castle in the 1500s.
It was operational until the 20th century but now is a tourist attraction that hosts Cumbria's Museum of Military Life.
Tullie House
Tullie House has been a part of Carlisle since 1893 and is referred to as Carlisle's first learning centre.
Tullie gave Carlisle a museum, library, art school and technical school.
The museum has an impressive art collection and is a popular place to visit for locals and tourists alike.
Muncaster Castle
This historic estate dates back centuries and sits just by the coast of southwest Cumbria.
Visitors can enjoy a tour of the historic castle along with other attractions like the Hawk and Owl Centre and the newly founded Weapons Hall.
The estate also boasts expansive gardens that spread for miles around the castle.
The Rum Story
The Rum Story is an exciting visitor attraction that explores Whitehaven's history as a port.
The town was a key player in the global rum and sugar trade of the 1700s.
Sadly, Whitehaven also played a role in the slave trade, a part of the town's history that the museum explores.
Derwentwater
Derwentwater is one of the most scenic lakes in the area, overlooked by the stunning mountain of Catbells.
It is a great place to visit when the sun is out and you can even go onto the lake in a rented rowing boat or motor boat.
