On March 12 and March 13, members of the BCHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the state conference at Camp Dawson, where they competed in various events for a chance to qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. BCHS had a strong showing, with 11 students placing in the top four of their categories and earning a spot at Nationals — including four state champions.
The following students earned top honors at the conference: Liam Beall – 1st Place, Introduction to Information Technology, Cooper Belknap – 1st Place, Impromptu Speaking, Jamie Nettles – 1st Place, Client Service and Kaiden Perkins – 1st Place, Public Speaking.
Several other students also placed in their events and will join the national team: Owen Belknap – 2nd Place, Computer Problem Solving, Alexander Dennison – 2nd Place, Electronic Career Portfolio, Nevaeh Flint – 3rd Place, Business Ethics, Melody Jarrell – 3rd Place, UX Design, Kaiden Perkins – 3rd Place, Public Policy & Advocacy as well as Braelyn Criner, Maddison Singleton, and Lilly Hines – 2nd Place, Public Service Announcement
“I am incredibly proud and grateful to serve as President of FBLA. Our members consistently demonstrate dedication and excellence in everything they do, and their hard work and commitment to supporting our community are truly inspiring,” said BCHS FBLA President Kaiden Perkins. “It’s exciting to see so many of them qualify for Nationals and have the opportunity to represent Braxton County on the national stage. We look forward to continuing to grow FBLA in the coming years, creating more opportunities for students and making a meaningful impact on our community. None of this would have been possible without the support of our incredible administrators, the board of education, and our dedicated parents.”
The students will now prepare for the National Leadership Conference, where they will compete with top FBLA members from across the country and around the world.
The group and their sponsor Tyler Cunningham are actively working to raise funds to defray the costs of the trip in June. Anyone wishing to support this dedicated group of young adults may follow the link or QR code below: https://www.givebacks.com/onboarding/causes/braxtonhigh/campaigns/f14723e883
