RAF Puma helicopters were seen over North Wales today (Wednesday, March 26) as part of their retirement flypast.

Three iconic RAF Puma HC2 helicopters took to the skies for their farewell flight - performing flypasts over key UK sites that have been pivotal to their service.

The RAF Puma has been used in a variety of combat roles over the last 54 years, including the tactical movement of troops, weapons, ammunition and stores on the battlefield, as well as the extraction of casualties and in response to medical emergencies on the frontline. It is also used in humanitarian and disaster relief operations.

Squadron Leader Neil Davidson, 2IC of 33 Squadron, said: "It's a great aircraft for the operations we've been on.

"Be that Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan. It's a great aircraft for getting in and out of really tight urban sites, even in high altitudes of Kabul we are able to lift troops out of really tight sites and keep them off the roads."
