Iranian President Points Finger at Sponsors of Israel

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian lashed out at the supporters of Israel for aiding and abetting the Zionist regime’s genocidal crimes.

Speaking to reporters at a rally marking the International Quds Day in Tehran on Friday, President Pezeshkian criticized the so-called advocates of human rights for their silence on the crimes committed by the Zionist regime, saying the supporters of this “terrorist” regime should be held accountable for those atrocities.

“The countries, whose politicians claim to defend human rights, should be asked why the Zionist regime immorally uses modern-day technology to bomb defenseless women and children, and burn them under the rubble? What sin do have they?” the president said, his official website reported.

“This behavior of the Zionist regime is inconceivable and unacceptable,” he emphasized.

The nature of the behaviors of the Zionist regime and those who support it is nothing but crime and brutality, which violate humanitarian principles, Pezeshkian said.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year’s Quds Day is marked against a backdrop of the Israeli regime’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 50,208 Palestinians have been confirmed dead and 113,910 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Gaza’s Government Media Office has updated its death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of Palestinians missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
