Despite the differences between the images, the photographers in this exhibition — and painter Edward Hopper — share an exploration of the storytelling capabilities of a simple aperture. RCT Attends West Haverstraw Read In

Community Editor Sierra Lidén was invited to West Haverstraw Elementary School’s Read In, where she got to share the power of asking “Why?” with a very curious Kindergarten class. Through the story “The Curious Why”, students followed a child learning the power of using their curious Why to engage with the world around them. Sierra explained to the young scholars that she uses her curious Why every day as a journalist to learn more about Rockland and the people living here. The story encourages students to use their Why to stave off that thing called boredom and to become invested in all the big wide world has to offer them. Dinosaurs were a favorite topic of the afternoon. The RCT loves to connect with all community members, and thanks WHES for inviting our reporters in as a Reader in this beloved Rockland tradition!
