Paddy McGuinness and Christine put £6.5m swanky mansion up for sale after living together during divorce
Paddy McGuinness has decided to sell the family home he shares with his ex-wife Christine and their three children, three years after the couple split.
Following their split three years ago, Paddy and Christine McGuinness have made the decision to sell their Cheshire mansion.
The 51-year-old former Take Me Out presenter and his 36-year-old ex-wife had been residing in the sprawling property, despite their separation, due to concerns that any change might affect their children - 11-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and 8-year-old Felicity, all of whom have autism.
Christine had previously been "torn" about leaving the home but is now reportedly "desperate" to start anew and move out, rather than continuing to cohabitate with Paddy.
A court ruling last year allowed the former couple to keep their home after their divorce, provided they both remained at the property.
The couple has listed their home with a local estate agent, hoping to make a substantial profit of £4.4 million, having purchased the Prestbury property for £2.1 million in 2020.
After months of renovations, the home now boasts planning permission for a rear extension and roof terrace overlooking Cheshire's greenbelts, as well as a master bedroom with his and hers dressing rooms, reports the Mirror.
According to recent reports, Christine's growing unhappiness at their home led to a change of heart, prompting her to seek a fresh start. The stunning seven-bedroom property seamlessly blends traditional and modern elements, featuring nine bathrooms, a home gym, and a playroom complete with a ball pit.
"They felt it was best for a new start, for all concerned, which triggered Paddy's decision to sell up," a source disclosed to MailOnline.
The insider continued: "Christine is at the end of her tether and can't carry on living with Paddy... She is desperate to sell the house, split the proceeds, and buy a smaller property where she can live happily with their three children."
A source previously told the Mirror that Christine had considered the possibility of "carrying on" in their family home for the sake of the children. The source shared: "As Christine has said herself, their children's autism means they don't generally cope well with change, and that's why she and Paddy have stayed living together for so long, despite living separate lives.
"Moving out won't be an easy transition for the children and that's why she's been so cautious to do it. A part of her wonders if it would just be easier to carry on as they are, but she knows that now is the time. As much as it's tough, the kids need a happy mum too."
Following her divorce, Christine had the choice to "force the sale" of their house, but she and her former spouse decided to prioritise their children's wellbeing to prevent any distress or disruption.
Despite the challenges that often come with divorced couples living together, Paddy and Christine have been open about their choice to cohabit post-split. The former Top Gear presenter has shared that for them, it's been "easy" as they've avoided a toxic environment after their surprising decision to part ways.
Speaking to the Mail's Weekend Magazine, he said: "Yeah, still the same. It doesn't feel tricky. I think it would if you lived in a toxic household - God forbid. If I'm at home with the kids it's great. If I'm working and Christine is at home with the kids, that's great. If we are there together, that's fine. As long as my children are happy, that's all that matters to me."
Following their separation, Christine and Paddy have maintained a friendly relationship. The ex-model has mentioned that they regularly sit down to coordinate their work timetables to prevent any conflicts and arrange visits from friends and family, ensuring their children aren't overwhelmed by the changes.
