Ross Reily- Alabama-based furniture company The RW Collective has acquired the assets of Mississippi upholstery manufacturer Bauhaus Furniture Group.
- The acquisition comes after Bauhaus announced it would be closing its doors due to various business challenges.
- The move will save the jobs of 75 Bauhaus workers and allow The RW Collective to increase its domestic production capabilities.
The RW Collective, a furniture importer based in Rockford, Alabama, has purchased the assets of Saltillo upholstery manufacturer Bauhaus Furniture Group, according to multiple industry sources.
The RW Collective said the move strengthens its domestic production capabilities and accelerates its vertical integration.
The acquisition comes less than a week after Bauhaus announced to its employees that it was closing its doors on March 10. Company President Daniel Lim said the closing was related to challenges ranging from a conversion to its new software system to the uncertainty of government tariffs and the continued soft business environment.
“This is an exciting milestone for The RW Collective,” CEO Michael Carey told Furniture Today. “Bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. has been a long-term goal, and Bauhaus presented the perfect opportunity. Its skilled craftsmanship, quality production and logistics expertise will have an immediate positive impact on our ability to serve customers.”
The move by RW Collective to acquiring Bauhaus, which produces its upholstery line in a 200,000-square-foot plant saves the jobs of 75 workers, who now become a part of The RW Collective team.
