BURLINGTON, Vt. (WABI) - The Maine Black Bears will play for an America East Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time since 2004.

No. 3 Maine upset No. 2 Vermont, 57-42, in Burlington to advance.

The Black Bears led 27-19 at halftime and outscored the Catamounts, 30-23, to seal the win.

Kellen Tynes (13) and AJ Lopez (12) led Maine in scoring.

Vermont’s Ileri Ayo-Faleye led all scorers with 14 points.

“(I’m) just really proud of our guys for the fight that they showed, the execution they showed on the defensive side, and then we made enough plays offensively to get some separation down the stretch,” said Chris Markwood, head coach.

Maine will play for an America East Championship against Bryant on Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
