A Douglasville couple faces numerous charges after the man molested his stepdaughter, then threatened to kill his wife, who later refused to tell police her husband’s whereabouts and instead joined him at a local diner for breakfast.
Rodrick Devechee Stevens, 39, has been charged with four counts of child molestation; one count each of aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, aggravated assault, battery under the Family Violence Act, cruelty to children, pointing a gun at another and hindering the making of an emergency call; and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Keanna Nicole Scott-Stevens, 40, has been charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
According to court records, police were called to the couple’s home on Hickory Bend Road around 8 a.m. on April 9. Officers learned Stevens had grabbed his wife’s cell phone as she tried to call 911 and threw it on the roof of the home.
Stevens slapped his wife several times in the face, knocking her to the ground and leaving multiple bruises, according to arrest warrants.
Stevens grabbed his wife and pointed a Glock 43 9mm semi-automatic pistol at her head while threatening to shoot her. Police said the 14-year-old daughter witnessed the altercation.
While investigation the incident, police learned that Stevens molested the daughter once between Dec. 1, 2021 and Feb. 29, 2024 at a different address. He molested her three more times between April 1 and 9.
According to warrants, Stevens told the teen he needed her help in a shed on the property, then lured her inside where he sexually assaulted her.
As officers tried to apprehend Stevens Wednesday, Scott-Stevens was informed by phone of the pending charges against her husband and was given contact information for letting investigators know of his whereabouts.
Warrants show that Scott-Stevens later got on a motorcycle with her husband and rode to pick up her own car. The couple went to a restaurant on Stewart Parkway and had breakfast.
Officers arrested both Stevens and Scott-Stevens at the diner. Stevens had the Glock pistol in his possession.
Court records show that Stevens was convicted of the illegal manufacture of drugs, cultivation of marijuana and improperly handling a firearm in a case from 2016 in Ohio.
Both are being held in the county jail without bond.
