Haiti - Justice : Laureates of the Moot Court Competition on Human Rights
Friday, February 16, 2018, at the new Courthouse of the Court of Cassation took place the Grande Final of the 3rd Edition of the Moot Court Competition on Human Rights, Organized by the Office of Human Rights in Haiti (BDDH) with the financial support of the French Embassy, the French Institute in Haiti, the Embassy of Switzerland, the University Agency of La Francophonie (AUF) and the "Fondasyon Konesans ak Libète" (FOKAL).

It should be remembered that this competition for law students has several objectives: to enable them to train in public speaking, to identify and support future legal professionals and finally to make the link between legal matters and human rights.

Shortlisted from 51 candidates who wrote a plea on "State responsibility for deaths in prison", 32 students participated in oratorical contests that took place in January 2018. The 4 best clashed in final around themes: public denunciation of harassment; the individual compensation of the victims of cholera and finally the prison.

The first prize was awarded by the Ambassador of France, Elisabeth Beton Delègue to Danovald Charles, studying at the School of Law and Economics of Gonaïves.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th Prizes were respectively awarded to Johnny Velcy, Miki Julien and Ms. Naïma Michel.
